Obituary for Jeff Altena

Jeff (Gerald) Altena, age 66 of Holland passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday, July 11, 2007 at his home.

Jeff was a loving husband, father and devoted grandfather. He was a member of Fellowship Reformed Church and served as an elder for many years. He retired from Crown Motors in 2005 and also was employed at Fellowship Reformed Church as a facilities coordinator and worked in the buildings and grounds department. He played baseball for the American Legion and for Northgate Lumber. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Jennie Altena and brothers Bob and Ed Altena. His father and mother-in-law Neil and Marguerite Kalkman and brother-in-law Kenneth Kalkman and sister-in-law Phyllis Kalkman.

He is survived by his wife Marge, of 48 years, and children:
Cindy and Mike Van Langevelde of Holland
Lori and Greg Wehrmeyer of Holland
5 Grandchildren:
David Van Langevelde and his fiancée Kari Gillikin
Corey and Sarah Van Langevelde
Bradley and Brenton Wehrmeyer
Sisters:
Mrs. Merle (Bernice) Cook of Holland
Mrs. Warren (Eleanor) Wolters of Holland
Brothers and sisters in law:
Chet and Ardith Kalkman of Holland
Evie Kalkman of Holland
Earl and Mary Kalkman of Zeeland
Donna and Paul Walters of Holland
Paul and Linda Kalkman of Holland
Dave and Sue Kalkman of Titusville, FL
Many nephews, nieces and cousins.

A memorial service will be 11:00 AM Saturday, July 14, 2007 at Fellowship Reformed Church 300 North 168th Street in Holland. Reverends James Baar, Brian Keepers and Sara Beaver-Vogel will be officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9PM at Lakeshore Memorial Services 11939 James Street in Holland. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Holland or Fellowship Reformed Church Building Fund. An on-line registry book is available at www.lakeshorememorial.com for those who cannot attend the services.
